
2002 Turbo
The 2002 Turbo, BMW’s first turbocharged production car and their second Motorsport car. Only 1,672 examples were built over a two-year production run amid the 1970’s oil crisis. The Turbo is known for its riveted fender flares and Motorsport decals with the words “Turbo” in mirror script, making no mistake of its presence to the car ahead of it. Its turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder produced 170hp and 180lbft of torque in a chassis that weighed about 2,400lbs. The Turbo included extras such as Recaro bucket seats, Alpine stereo, Turbo specific steering wheels, red gauge cluster, and a rear window defroster.
